Job

Regional Climate Advisor - Asia Pacific

About this opportunity

**The Organisation**

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for, and respond to, crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries.

**The Opportunity**

Plan International is seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Climate Advisor to provide technical leadership across Asia Pacific on climate resilience, adaptation and environmental sustainability.

This is a critical regional advisory role supporting Country Offices and regional teams to design, implement, evaluate and scale high quality climate programming that advances children’s rights, gender equality and girls’ leadership in the face of climate change.

Working in a complex, matrixed federation, you will help integrate climate considerations into strategies, programmes, humanitarian and development work, influencing agendas and resource mobilisation efforts, while strengthening Plan International’s positioning in child-centred, gender-transformative and locally led climate action.

**In this pivotal role, you will:**

- Provide strategic and technical leadership on climate change adaptation, resilience and environmental sustainability across the Asia Pacific region
- Support Country Offices to integrate climate resilience into country strategies, programme frameworks, humanitarian responses and sector programmes
- Lead and support the design of high quality climate adaptation, resilience and environmental sustainability programmes, concepts and donor-facing proposals
- Strengthen climate-related resource mobilisation, including support for donor engagement, proposal development and access to climate finance opportunities
- Develop and promote technical standards, tools, guidance and learning products, while building regional and country-level capacity
- Generate and share evidence, research, case studies and cross-country learning to support innovation, programme quality, influencing and scale
- Represent Plan International in relevant climate and resilience forums, networks and partnerships

**Do you have what it takes?**

**To excel in this role, you will need:**

- Significant experience providing technical leadership on climate resilience, adaptation and environmental sustainability programming
- Strong understanding of child-centred, gender-transformative and locally led approaches to climate action
- Experience supporting multi-country programmes, regional portfolios or cross-country technical advisory work
- Proven experience designing climate adaptation, resilience or environmental sustainability programmes, including theories of change, results frameworks and donor-facing proposals
- Demonstrated success in resource mobilisation, proposal development and donor engagement for climate or resilience programming
- Strong facilitation, coaching, partnership development, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical climate evidence into practical programme guidance
- Experience working across cultures, functions and geographies in a matrixed international organisation
