We are growing and looking to recruit a Full-time Finance Officer based in Nairobi, Kenya.
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and compliance-driven Finance Officer to oversee the financial management and regulatory reporting functions of our CMA-licensed entity in Kenya. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting within the capital markets or financial services sector, a thorough understanding of CMA regulatory requirements, and a proven ability to manage complex reporting obligations in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, quarterly financial returns, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
• Compute and monitor liquid capital adequacy ratios and ensure the entity remains above CMA minimum thresholds at all times
• Prepare and submit all statutory returns to the Capital Markets Authority within stipulated deadlines
• Maintain strict segregation of client funds from company funds and perform daily client fund reconciliations
• Manage the full tax compliance cycle via KRA iTax
• Coordinate external and internal audits, prepare comprehensive audit files, and implement audit recommendations
• Oversee treasury and cash flow management, including weekly cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
• Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare monthly budget vs. actual variance reports for senior management
• Prepare Board and Finance/Audit Committee packs and present financial performance to senior leadership
• Maintain internal financial controls, SOPs, and contribute to the entity's risk register
• Liaise with the CMA, KRA, external auditors, and other regulators on financial matters
Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• 3–5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role within a CMA-licensed entity, or financial services company is a must
• CPA(K) fully qualified and active member in good standing with ICPAK
• Strong working knowledge of the CMA Act (Cap. 485A) and relevant subsidiary regulations is an added advantage
• Solid understanding of IFRS, capital adequacy frameworks, and client fund rules
• Proficiency in accounting software (XERO, Atlas, QuickBooks, or similar ERP) and advanced MS Excel
• Familiarity with KRA iTax platform for end-to-end tax compliance
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines
