**Organizational Context**

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a ministry of the Society of Jesus, incorporated as an international nongovernmental organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The organization was founded in November 1980 and now has a presence in 57 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome. The style of JRS's service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. The main services provided are in the fields of Education and Livelihoods, Pastoral, Reconciliation, MHPSS, and Advocacy.

**Operational Context/Role**

Under the direct supervision of the Economic Inclusion and Livelihood Coordinator, the Computer Instructor will be responsible for providing a range of skills in orienting, mentoring, and training selected students in high-quality computer training programs. These include, but are not limited to, Basic Computer Literacy and Advanced Computer Networking disciplines/packages using formal vocational skills training curricula, learning work plans, and schemes of work while implementing the above courses. Ensure administration, planning, coordination, and management of the IT project for the Adjumani office and full compliance of JRS operations with JRS principles, rules, regulations, and policies, operational strategies, and relevant reference documents and policies **(Sphere, Do no harm, PSEAH, safeguarding policies)**. The position will also provide day-to-day IT support to the Adjumani project office, working closely with the Kampala Project IT Officer to support users, IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365 services, networks, information security, systems continuity, documentation and other IT services in accordance with JRS policies, procedures and technical standards.

**Key Responsibilities: IT Training/Instruction**

- Develop and update the I.T training materials and curriculum for the basic computer literacy course based on the Competency-Based Training Curriculum (CBET)
- Contribute to the creation of course outlines, work plans, lesson plans, and instructional resources. Page
- Support in the enrolment of potential beneficiaries for the Basic Computer Literacy course and Advanced Computer courses
- Handle teaching and daily instruction for enrolled students in both Basic and Advanced computer classes.
- Assist in conducting I.T training sessions, assessments, and practical exercises to increase students’ achievements.
- Provide career guidance and support supervision to students during the teaching and learning process.
- Identify and present training needs to the departmental head for procurement planning and decisions.
- Request and manage the I.T training materials in accordance with JRS’ resource management policies and guidelines.
- Ensure that instructional content is delivered effectively according to the set learning objectives.
- Provide basic health education to all trainees in both computer literacy & Advanced computer courses.
- Monitor and manage students’ attendance and progress daily to increase retention and successful completion using set rules and regulations.
- Write and submit quality weekly and monthly reports to the immediate supervisor.
- Select and present eligible students for course assessment based on active participation in the course, formative assessment results, and positive behavioural patterns during the course.
- Submit lists of successful students for certification at the end of each course cycle to the departmental head.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding beneficiaries, staff, and internal information and communication within JRS.
- Manage students’ daily attendance through Bio-metric machines at the gate and in class attendance.
- Collect any Means of verification (MOV) that are mandated in the Monitoring and Evaluation plan, such as: enrolment register, photos, progress reports, test results, evaluation reports of your course trainings, among others.
- Maintain students’ file records, learning notes, and performance documentation as per organizational policy and procedure.

**IT Support and Infrastructure Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with staff to troubleshoot technical issues (hardware and software), including installation, upgrades, and daily usage
- Maintain accurate records and accountability of JRS IT assets and equipment, including computers, peripherals, network equipment, and other IT devices, in accordance with JRS procedures.
- Stay up to date on new software features and capabilities, and plan and execute upgrades and migrations as needed
- Provide training to users on how to use Office 365 (Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) effectively on various devices (PC, laptop, mobile, etc.)
- Develop how-to guides, video tutorials, etc., editing, and revising the same with updated information when necessary
- Assist in the management of the Microsoft Azure Platform, including related servers, networks, and services
- Review, plan, and assist in the implementation of proper Internet usage policies for JRS Adjumani office • Ensure that employees are following computer use policies, information security, and privacy
- Write and maintain documentation for procedures, processes, and configurations
- Research, support, and make recommendations on the purchase of software, hardware, and other IT equipment as required
- Implement and ensure systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery processes
- Maintain security by monitoring systems and processes for potential vulnerabilities, identifying risks, and taking action to mitigate them
- Assist in configuring and managing security settings and compliance features to protect data and support regulatory compliance.
- Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems to resolve network connectivity issues • Prepare and share regular IT operations and support reports with the Kampala Project IT Officer and/or designated supervisor

**Collaboration**
- Maintain a close and regular collaboration and exchange information with staff in JRS Livelihoods department.
- Work with Livelihood Instructors to strengthen existing collaboration systems in the department.
- Collaborate closely with the Livelihoods team in activity management meetings and follow-up of beneficiaries.
- Any other responsibilities/duties assigned by your supervisor and/or Project Director.

**Reporting**
- You will report to and be supervised by the Economic Inclusion and Livelihood Coordinator.
- For technical IT matters, the position will work closely with and receive technical guidance from the Kampala Project IT Officer.

**Qualifications, Education, and Competencies:**
- BSc degree or Diploma in Computer Sciences/Information Technology/Information Systems.
- Certified in networks (CCNA or equivalent).
- Certified in Microsoft (MCSE/MCSA or equivalent). Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) is a plus.
- Proven experience as an IT Technician or in a relevant position.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth understanding of computer systems and networks.
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and planning skills.
- Competence in Office 365 and Microsoft Office.
