About this opportunity
We are looking for a Trade Development Representative to join our leading telecommunications provider in Nakuru, Kenya. In this role you will work closely with the Area Sales Manager to boost retailer awareness of our SIM and float products, while ensuring strong visibility and merchandising at points of purchase. Your day‑to‑day focus will be on channel visits, agent recruitment and maintaining optimal stock levels across the trade network.
Why Join This Company
Our client is one of the most recognised telecom operators in the region, offering a robust network and a commitment to digital inclusion. By joining the team you will be part of a fast‑growing business that values innovation, customer focus and continuous improvement. The position provides a clear path to develop expertise in channel management and to influence market penetration in a competitive industry.
What You'll Do
In this position you will be responsible for expanding and sustaining the trade network that sells our mobile services and devices.
• Identify and recruit new SSO and T‑Kash agents, concentrating on mobile‑money outlets and high‑traffic retail locations.
• Conduct regular visits to agents and SSO points following established beat plans, ensuring compliance with call‑rate targets.
• Provide business tools and comprehensive training to agents, covering transaction processes, anti‑money‑laundering (AML) and know‑your‑customer (KYC) requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels, enforce the 1.5‑times stock rule, and coordinate float replenishment to prevent stock‑outs.
• Oversee merchandising standards by supplying and installing promotional materials at agent outlets.
• Collect and analyse sales and stock data, delivering actionable insights to the Area Sales Manager for strategic adjustments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with retail partners, acting as the primary liaison for any operational issues.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will combine formal education with hands‑on experience in sales and distribution.
• A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or a closely related discipline.
• One to three years of proven experience in sales, distribution or channel management within the FMCG or telecommunications sector.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, map and activate new agents and retail partners.
• Strong customer‑focus mindset with a track record of achieving sales targets.
• Effective influencing and negotiation capabilities to secure agreements with retailers.
• Excellent networking skills to develop and sustain partnerships across the trade network.
• Analytical thinking to interpret stock and sales data and recommend corrective actions.
If you meet the above criteria and are eager to contribute to a thriving telecom business, we invite you to submit your application through the platform. Join us and help shape the future of mobile connectivity in Kenya.
