About the Role Our client is a respected documentary film production company seeking a talented and detail-oriented Video Editor to join their team on a part-time basis. Key Responsibilities Edit raw footage into cohesive and compelling documentary films, adhering to the director's vision and narrative requirements. Assemble daily footage, select the best takes, and make sound judgments on content and continuity. Incorporate music, sound effects, and graphics to enhance the visual storytelling and emotional impact of the film. Work closely with directors and producers to refine edits, implement feedback, and achieve the desired final product. Ensure technical quality of edits, including color correction, audio mixing, and final rendering. Manage and organize project files, ensuring efficient workflow and easy retrieval of assets. Research and stay updated on editing techniques and software advancements relevant to documentary filmmaking. Collaborate with the post-production team to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during the editing process. Contribute creative ideas for narrative flow and visual presentation during the editing phase. Requirements Proven experience as a Video Editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing documentary film editing work. Proficiency in non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. Solid understanding of storytelling, pacing, and narrative structure in documentary filmmaking. Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for visual composition and continuity. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines for part-time assignments. Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with directors and producers. Knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, and post-production workflows. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in our **Kisumu** office. A passion for documentary filmmaking and a commitment to producing high-quality content. Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in film or media production.
