Nexa Opportunities Limited is seeking a results-driven Business Development & Partnerships Officer to join our growing team on a contract, remote basis.

Nexa is a Kenyan digital platform building an ecosystem of verified opportunities, bringing together jobs, scholarships, grants, business opportunities, career tools, educational resources and other pathways for professional and economic advancement.
Following our Phase 2 rollout, which saw Nexa grow beyond 2,500 users, we are entering our next stage—strengthening institutional partnerships, expanding our employer network, developing sustainable revenue streams and positioning Nexa for long-term growth.
The Role
The Business Development & Partnerships Officer will work closely with the Director to turn Nexa's growing platform and user base into strategic partnerships, employer relationships, funding opportunities and sustainable commercial growth.
Key responsibilities will include:
🤝 Partnership Development — Identify, approach and develop relationships with employers, universities, NGOs, foundations, training institutions, government agencies and other strategic partners.
🏢 Employer Acquisition — Onboard employers and organisations to publish verified opportunities directly through Nexa and strengthen the employer side of the platform.
💰 Revenue & Monetisation — Help develop and test sustainable revenue models, including employer services, premium/featured listings, institutional partnerships, sponsorships and other B2B opportunities.
🚀 Funding & Investment Opportunities — Identify relevant grants, accelerators, startup programmes, corporate partnerships and potential investment opportunities, and support proposal development.
📈 Business Growth — Develop and manage a structured partnership and business-development pipeline, from prospecting and outreach to meetings, negotiations, onboarding and relationship management.
🌍 Market Development — Identify new sectors, user segments and future markets that could support Nexa's expansion in Kenya and beyond.
📊 Market Intelligence — Gather insights from employers, partners and users to help inform Nexa's product development, pricing, positioning and future strategy.
🎯 External Representation — Professionally represent Nexa in meetings, networking events, institutional engagements and partnership discussions.

Requirements / Eligibility
- You should have:
- Proven experience in business development, B2B sales, partnerships, account management or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and convert conversations into meaningful business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of the Kenyan corporate, NGO, education, startup or technology ecosystem.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently prospect, follow up, manage a pipeline and deliver against agreed targets.
- Good understanding of digital platforms and technology-enabled businesses.
- Ability to think commercially while understanding the realities of an early-stage company.
- High levels of professionalism, initiative, accountability and integrity.
- Added Advantage
- Experience working with a startup or growth-stage company; an existing network among employers, universities/TVET institutions, NGOs, development organisations, recruitment organisations or corporate partners; experience preparing partnership proposals, concept notes, grant applications or commercial offers; and familiarity with CRM/pipeline management will be advantageous.
