About this opportunity
The office of Medical Research at Kenyatta National Hospital in collaboration with University of Washington is seeking to fill the following positions in Kisumu County.
Position: Research Assistants (2 positions)
Reporting to: Study Coordinator
Location: Kisumu /Siaya
Role Purpose:
The Study Research Assistants (RA) will support the HTS Prep Project, which focuses on Scaling up for impact: HIV testing counselor-led pathway to accelerate PrEP delivery at scale. The RA will primarily abstract HIV-PrEP and family planning data according to the approved Standard Operating Procedures. They will also assist in tracking study participants enrolled in the cohort study
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time position based in Kenya, with occasional travel to various clinics within Kisumu County. The RA will report to the project coordinator and work closely with the research and clinical teams. The position is offered on a contractual basis, with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Core Responsibilities
• Data Abstraction: Ensure PrEP and FP data abstraction is performed according to the approved Standard Operating Procedures.
• Participant Engagement: Support in the retention of participants enrolled in the cohort study. The RA will also assist in scheduling and coordinating qualitative interviews.
• Administrative support: Provide weekly summaries of data abstraction to the study coordinator
Essential Requirements
• Degree in Health Records and Information Management
• Experience with R or Stata.
• Working experience: Candidates must have graduated not more than two years prior to the date of this advertisement
• Must have Excellent skills with REDCap and computer skill
• Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate regularly with study coordinator via email/ Zoom
• Language skills: fluency in English and Kiswahili.
• Team player with ability to work closely with other study and facility staff
• Ethics Certification: Must have a Valid and current Human Subject Protection (HSP)certificate.
