Engineer – Metering

About this opportunity

• Design and implement metering system architectures for oil and gas production, processing, and transportation facilities.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of metering devices and systems, ensuring that equipment is correctly calibrated, configured, and operational.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, verification, and calibration checks of metering equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain metering standards, procedures, and work practices in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, maintenance, and asset management teams to integrate metering systems into broader asset management frameworks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to metering systems, including flow measurement discrepancies, meter inaccuracies, and equipment malfunctions.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation covering metering system operations, performance, calibration, maintenance, and compliance audits.
• Monitor developments in metering technology and recommend system upgrades, improvements, and enhancements to optimize performance and reliability.
• Provide technical training, guidance, and support to operations and maintenance teams on metering system functionality, operation, calibration, and best practices.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, vendors, and external auditors to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Professional engineering certification or recognized metering-system certification is highly advantageous.

Experience
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in metering engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience in the design, installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydrocarbon metering systems.
• Experience working with ultrasonic, turbine, and Coriolis flow meters.

Technical Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of flow measurement technologies, principles, and applications.
• In-depth understanding of relevant industry standards and practices, including AGA, API, and ISO standards.
• Knowledge of hydrocarbon accounting, custody transfer, and measurement systems.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to hydrocarbon measurement and accounting.
• Proficiency in metering system design, analysis, performance evaluation, and related engineering software tools.
